Abuzz claims its interactive touch screen kiosks have reached critical mass, and the Big Data mapping collected from the machines can become a game-changer for the retail industry.
The Abuzz kiosks are located in 44 shopping centres which accommodate 12,000 tenants that service about 476 million shopper ‘visits’ per year. The vendor calculates this to accumulate to 10 ‘touches’ per second, nationally.
CEO, Jeremy Richardson, said the Abuzz Kiosk Network is now able to provide “invaluable Big Data mapping analytics for retail market researchers, retail category markets, shopping centre planners and architects, and much more.”
The data can be used to identify shopper habits and in turn, allow retailers to prepare for future trends, category selection, and traffic flow projections.
In addition, Abuzz said new innovations within the search functions will provide further data value for marketers looking to drive customers to retail environments.
For example, the Wayfinder kiosks are now able to provide data such as the most searched for items and the most browsed for category.
While the raw data offers the retail industry trends alluding to shopper behaviour, Abuzz openly states that the kiosks “do not – and cannot – record identifiable personal shopper information.” Instead, the company maps bulk shopper trends and search requests.
