Sausage to can spam

Sausage Software is to acquire Zeo systems in a strategic move they hope will reduce unsolicited spam e-mail and will see regular personalised marketing via e-mail.

Zeo systems has developed technology that allows two-way information sharing, the polling of customers and specialised target marketing.

Using this application, marketers can poll and then target customers with relevant information and reduce random messages.

Sausage intends to provide the service direct to its customers but is looking at a channel strategy in the future.

The acquisition of Zeo is strategic because it gives Sausage unique technology and therefore an edge over its competitors.

"We have 1 million customers and we are seeking to aggregate our customer base so we needed to build efficiency into our models," Wayne Bos, Sausage Software director, said.

Bos did not divulge the financial details of the buyout, but commented: "Zeo had a very clean skin. I'm very choosy. I like businesses with high quality technology and product."

As to the future for the Internet direct marketing Bos said: "This [service] will put very a high-quality direct marketing tool in the hands of other companies."
