New Zealand-based online account software vendor, Xero, has announced the appointment of former Google Enterprise Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) boss, Stuart McLean, to the newly-created role of chief revenue officer (CRO).
As CRO, McLean will be based at the company’s Wellington head office, responsibile for all global sales and marketing teams.
According to Xero, the appointment was made due to the growth it was experiencing in offshore regions, particularly Australia, the United Kingdom, and United States.
In commenting on his appointment, McLean said, “Xero represents the next generation of software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies with fantastic product, great people and huge market potential… I’ve been watching Xero for some time and am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Xero team at this stage in its growth.”
While leading Google Enterprise in Sydney as head of A/NZ, McLean was responsible for driving the Cloud applications business for products such as Google Apps, Drive and Vault, and Enterprise Search.
He spent nearly two and a half years with the IT giant, before which he was chief executive officer (CEO) technology group, Myriax, for just under a year.
McLean’s career also includes a two-year stint at CMyPeople as CEO, six years as founder and CEO of NetReturn (an exclusive NetSuite distributor), and another six years with Oracle in several executive roles.
