International call rates on the Aldi Mobile network are charged per minute with no flag fall

New low cost mobile network Aldi Mobile offers the ability to make international calls but international roaming is not available on the service.

The German supermarket chain officially switched on the Telstra-powered network in Australia today and also confirmed its international call rates.

International call rates on the Aldi Mobile network are charged per minute with no flag fall. The per minute rate depends on the call destination but prices range from as low as 10 cents per minute up to $1.69 per minute.

A call to Italy will cost 62 cents per minute, Indonesia 10 cents per minute and Papua New Guinea at $1.52 per minute. A full list of international call rates can be viewed here.

While the Aldi Mobile network can make international calls within Australia, the company has confirmed international roaming services are not available.

The German supermarket giant also confirmed a number of other fees and details. Data on its service is billed in per megabyte (MB) blocks and charged at 5 cents per MB.

There is no minimum monthly charge for the Aldi Mobile service and no early termination charge, but any remaining credit will not be refunded if you leave the network.

Calls to 13, 1300 and 1800 numbers are charged at the standard rate of 12 cents per minute but premium 19xx numbers are not available.

Aldi Mobile customers can recharge their account online, via an upcoming mobile app for iPhone and Android, and through all 300 Aldi supermarket stores across Australia.

Aldi Mobile starter packs ($5) and recharge cards are available now through all Aldi supermarket stores.
