WhiteGold Solutions has partnered with German datacentre vendor, Rittal, marking what it expects will be the first of many partnerships in WhiteGold’s new datacentre ecosystem.
WhiteGold will distribute Rittal’s complete portfolio in Australia including new technologies to be announced at the upcoming CeBIT in Germany.
The partnership is part of the company’s larger, new datacentre ecosystem strategy, which entails providing a datacentre infrastructure environment that it will build with additional vendors.
“Rittal gives us an entry into the datacentre environment, sets it all up, and then we populate that datacentre with active technology from other vendors that will be coming on board later this year,” WhiteGold strategic advisor, Leigh Howard, said.
The partnership enables WhiteGold to offer a whole new area to its partners, he said, in addition to allowing it to spread from its core roots and branch out to a whole new technology area.
“The move is very strategic to us as it will be a huge growth area. It complements our existing security focus but is a completely separate business that leverages WhiteGold’s infrastructure,” Howard said.
The company has already identified out a number of vendors in the server, storage, virtualisation, core networking, enterprise back-up and disaster recovery spaces and will soon be announcing distie partnerships with these companies, according to Howard.
But WhiteGold is not just narrowing its options to these shortlisted contenders. It is seeking other vendors within that space that need distribution.
As it brings in new vendors, the technologies will be bundled to offer a solutions-based-model to the market.
Howard said the company decided to move into the datacentre space as it positions itself in a new technology area and enables its resellers to address market opportunities in that space.
“The security technologies that we sell at the moment, obviously goes into a datacentre. It keeps up the whole datacentre environment – with power, cooling, racks, datacentre infrastructure management or monitoring,” he claimed.
He also highlighted that the offering is not targeted at a particular market, enabling all reseller partners to benefit from the deal.
“The breadth of the market for datacentre technology is huge because it spans all the way down to corporate and mid-market as well. If they are not already investing in that sort of technologies, then they should be,” Howard said.
Rittal said, in a statement, that it anticipates the partnership with WhiteGold and the channel to build upon its customer base.
