ERP provider Intentia has announced a close strategic partnership with supply-chain management developer Mercia Software in an effort to corner more of the fashion, food and distribution sector.
Intentia and Mercia already have a number of mutual customers. They are seeking to combine their skills and products to provide a powerful demand and supply-chain planning solution for businesses with high volume throughput.
The agreement will see Intentia's Movex Supply Chain planning and execution application fully integrated with Mercia's MerciaLincs demand planning application. Intentia and Mercia Software will jointly invest in integration, sales and marketing, as well as product development activities.
"This is the highest level of alliance, whereby interfaces come to the market co-jointly," says Steve Ironside, managing director of Intentia Australia and New Zealand.
"We had to align ourselves closely and provide the level of comfort that a customer requires when committing to a solution of this magnitude. We need to be aware of each others' development plans."
Ironside says that at this stage Intentia will continue to go to customers as both the vendor and prime contractor, mostly for the credibility of the solution itself. "Vendors have been far too negligent for far too long about the customers' return on investment," he says. "This is our way of taking complete responsibility."
