Channel alliance hits ASP ground running

Com Tech Communications and Professional Advantage have formed an alliance under a new company called Managed IT to offer application service provider solutions, Com Tech announced yesterday.

SDI Asia Pacific, a specialist recruitment company, this week became the new company's first live customer.

Guy Jacobson, Com Tech's general manager for enterprise management services, said the partnership will combine Professional Advantage's business application software and services with Com Tech's experience in managing technical infrastructure.

According to Jonathon Klug, Managed IT's director, small and medium businesses want to get back to their core businesses and with IT solutions becoming more complex, with remote offices and mobile workers, outsourcing the management of their IT infrastructure is a cost-effective and time-efficient solution.

Under the jointly owned company, enterprise reseller Professional Advantage is delivering application expertise and customer support while Com Tech is supplying, through data centres in Melbourne and Sydney, secure infrastructure support, hardware, network operating system environment, e-mail and Internet access.

The partnership came about when Professional Advantage approached Com Tech in August to supply dedicated data centres for SDI Asia Pacific, a Professional Advantage customer.

The three companies agreed to test the solution and the success of the pilot then developed into the birth of Managed IT.
