Integrity Data Systems has announced a technology that it claims will boost latent speed capacity in wireless networks by almost 400 per cent. Developed by US-based Agere Systems, the kit is a 5GHz radio and antenna upgrade for its ORiNOCO AP-2000 dual-radio wireless network access point. The kit meets the 802.11a wireless standard at 54Mbps, faster than 802.11b for applications such as streaming video and accounting programs. The kit allows easy migration from the existing 802.11b standard, according to Integrity CEO Ross Chiswell.
"This kit will deliver a 400 per cent increase in network performance for marginal extra cost," he said. "It represents the coming of age for the wireless network." The kit is priced at $487 (inc GST) and will be available in June from Integrity Data Systems.
