A survey conducted by Cloud solutions provider and Google partner, Cloud Sherpas, has indicated that Australian and New Zealand (A/NZ) organisations favour Google Apps to Microsoft Office 365 by a factor of two to one.
The survey, which includes responses from over 230 executives, sought to identify major trends and priorities for IT departments across A/NZ and Asia-Pacific (APAC).
When APAC IT executives were asked which trends they are most interested in exploring, 70 per cent responded with mobility, 56 per cent with Cloud computing, 43 per cent with messaging and collaboration, 26 per cent with social, and 13 per cent with green IT.
In focusing on the Cloud results, Cloud Sherpas business development senior vice-president, Eran Gil, said, “Cloud is a great opportunity for businesses of all sizes to always stay on the most current and leading edge of technology. The key to success is choosing a solution that was engineered from the beginning to run in the Cloud.”
Cloud Sherpas asked the respondents to identify why they are interested in the Cloud, and 68 per cent responded user experience. Ease of implementation was measured at 57 per cent, industry peers moving to Cloud at 14 per cent, and regulatory concerns at 10 per cent.
In addition, 75 per cent of respondents said that they are considering, or are in the process of moving their storage systems to the Cloud.
