Infrastructure and business solutions company, Southern Cross Computer Systems, has snared a major five-year Managed Services contract with Victoria’s Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD).
The contract was awarded after a stringent RFI and RFQ process spanning many months. Duriung this time capability skill-sets and offerings of all local and global ICT service companies within the industry were qualified and assessed as suitable suppliers.
Key weighting criteria included core technology design, delivery and support experience, resource certification levels, pricing principles, QA systems, delivery methodology, strategy, innovation, R&D, knowledge management and financial stability.
Under the contract, Southern Cross will be responsible for supporting all the key Microsoft technologies and core infrastructure platforms utilised within DEECD.
They include: SharePoint, CRM (Customer Relationship Management), Microsoft Exchange, SQL (Sequel servers), AD (Active Directory), DNS (Domain Name Servers), TMG (Threat Management Gateway), Web Farm, OS (Operating System), backup, Citrix, storage, and VMware.

DEECD is responsible for the provision of services to children and young people, both directly through government schools, and indirectly through regulation and funding of early childhood services and non-government schools.
