Good Technology completes AppCentral acquisition

AppCentral app wrapping to give Good Dynamics platform additional capabilities

Enterprise mobility solutions provider, Good Technology, has signed an agreement to acquire AppCentral in order to extend the capabilities of its Good Dynamics platform with AppCentral’s AppGuardian application wrapping and mobile application management (MAM) solutions.

AppCentral is a privately-held MAM and application wrapping technology provider. Its offerings are designed to enable enterprises to easily distribute, manage, and secure mobile enterprise applications.

AppCentral’s ‘app wrapping’ capability builds upon the application security framework, libraries and services available in the Good Dynamics platform. This enables Good Dynamics to give independent software vendors (ISVs) the option to add an application security wrapper without code integration, or integrate Good Dynamics security libraries directly into their application code.

According to Good, the addition of AppGuardian and MAM will enable enterprises to increase mobile worker productivity while protecting data and applications on popular mobile devices.

“Our acquisition of AppCentral will accelerate and enhance our ability to provide enterprises, ISVs and systems integrators with the ability to secure and manage mobile apps, helping them maximise the power of mobility,” Good president and CEO, King Lee, said.

The transaction closed on October 1. The financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.

All AppCentral personnel have become full-time employees of Good. AppCentral’s San Francisco office will be transformed to a Good facility.
