Equinix builds direct link to Southern Cross Cables Network

Link expands number of Equinix networks to 111

Datacentres provider, Equinix, has housed a direct link to the Southern Cross Cables Network, helping its customers see further reduction in latency and ability to directly access the Southern Cross capacity.

With this link, Equinix has expanded its number of networks to 111 which includes the Southern Cross Cables Network and PIPE Pacific Cable (PPC-1).

Equinix customers can now connect from its facility in Sydney to its facility in Seattle, Equinix said in a statement.

Equinix chose its location for Sydney 1 (SY1) based on its proximity to the Southern Cross Cables Network to ensure the best speeds for its customers, Equinix said. The direct link was also of value as the density of networks within Equinix’s Sydney facilities increased, according to the Equinix.

Equinix will soon be opening phase 2 of its third Sydney facility SY3.
