Telecommunications vendor, Macquarie Telecom (ASX: MAQ), has inked an agreement with Australian ratings firm, Canstar, to provide it with dedicated managed hosting services.
As per the agreement, Macquarie Telecom will manage all elements of Canstar’s data hosting, as well as the installation of data network links for Canstar’s head office in Brisbane.
All data from Canstar’s ratings and comparisons programs will be stored within Macquarie Telecom’s Intellicentre1 datacentre, located in the Sydney CBD.
Canstar head of IT, Peter Hurwood, said it switched to Macquarie Telecom as it offered a complete single-vendor hosting service which its previous supplier was unable to provide, giving it the opportunity to combine its hosting and telecoms requirements within a single integrated solution.
“Macquarie Telecom’s position on Cloud and emphasis on Australia-centric data residency resonated with Canstar’s strategic imperatives. Intellicentre1 offered this with technical security and incorporated management tools, which gave us further control and oversight of our systems, networks and data,” Hurwood said.
Macquarie Telecom will provide a data network link connecting Intellicentre1 and Canstar’s Brisbane office, supported by a secondary Internet link at the Brisbane site.
Canstar will also receive Cloud Virtual Machines from Macquarie Telecom as a Cloud environment during the transition of applications and services to Intellicentre1.
“While Intellicentre1 proved most appropriate for Canstar’s managed hosting needs, we are also hosting clients in our new $60 million Intellicentre2 datacentre, which adds even stronger green credentials and redundancy to Macquarie Telecom’s standards for Cloud data and hosting services,” Macquarie Telecom managing director for hosting, Aidan Tudehope, added.
