North Sydney-based creator of the MeTag, Centryc Solutions, has won the “Brand, Social and Content” category in the 2012 Direct Market Association’s (DMA) Innovation Awards Competition for its MeTag – My Experience program at Sydney’s Luna Park.
“MeTag is a marketing application that allows venue operators, promoters, brands and marketers to engage with customers in real-time by providing a service that links online, offline, mobile, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and NFC, social, ticketing and access control technologies,” Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment, Andrew Stoner, said.
“MeTag worked with Luna Park on a pilot program using RFID technology on a wristband to give park-goers a unique experience, allowing them to upload photos and comments to social media.”
Stoner said that the award is a fantastic outcome for Centryc and the NSW Government’s Collaborative Solutions program which provided support for MeTag.
According to Centryc CEO, Dave Aicken, the NSW Trade and Investment support built an early foundation for the MeTag project and has made a significant impact on the company’s future.
“The NSW Government’s support for Tech 23 provided us with substantial benefit when we were awarded the 2011 ‘Outstanding Collaboration’ award at the event,” Aicken said. “The $25,000 cash prize enabled Centryc to move from a collection of spare bedrooms into our first office space, and allowed us to actively pursue business opportunities overseas.”
