Dataram hat-trick

For the third consecutive year, testing laboratory Computer Memory Test Labs (CMTL) has awarded memory provider Dataram with the "highest number of Intel Advanced memory qualifications". Dataram received the award for providing more Intel ‘Advanced' qualified products than any other DRAM or independent memory manufacturer in the world. "CMTL's Intel Advanced Qualification Program is an important part of Dataram's commitment to provide its customers with a high-quality, consistent memory module supply to satisfy all of their server, workstation, PC and embedded motherboard memory requirements," said Todd Shaner, Dataram's Intel product manager.

Hope for monitor market

IDC's latest performance figures on the Australian PC monitor market indicate that from January to March 2002, total monitor sales decreased yet again, by 0.7 per cent, but the branded market increased by 14.2 per cent, up for the first time since Q1 2001. The LCD form factor, having been hit hard by panel price increases, was nevertheless a huge success for vendor sales in Q1. Many dealers and retail outlets depleted their inventories during the Christmas and New Year shopping season, and vendors were having a field day fulfilling orders. LCD sales in the branded market consequently grew by 36 per cent over Q4 2001, according to IDC.

Ingram on vendor charge

Ingram Micro has been adopting a vendor partner every other week for the past few months - last week both Samsung and Britannica Asia-Pacific appointed Ingram Micro as a distributor. Ingram Micro has taken on Samsung's laser printers, MFDs and monitors and hopes to distribute several other product lines in the near future. It has appointed two dedicated product managers to aid its reseller base with the new lines. Ingram Micro has also announced that it will take Britannica's reference and learning tools to its broad reseller and OEM assembler customer base.
