Electrical wholesaler, Go Electrical, is bringing its operation into the new age with the help of a new customised enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution.
The company’s legacy enterprise application platform is being replaced with MomentumPro, a specialised enterprise management software package for the wholesale distribution sector, by business software vendor, Markinson.
Markinson chief executive officer, Ian Whiting, said Go Electrical went looking for a replacement solution because its incumbent application had reached the end of its life span.
“The reason they chose us was really around the fact that we have a firm focus, and have been for the last 20 years, in their industry,” he said.
“The application has been built with that market in mind, so that was the main reason why they went with us.”
Whiting said MomentumPro was also selected for its capacity to adapt to Go Electrical’s needs as well.
The decision to switch systems came about now, as Go Electrical felt that waiting any longer would “slow them down.”
“They have aggressive growth plans,” he said.
“It would be a hindrance to those growth plans if they continued on their current system.”
As for when Go Electrical can expect to see the benefits of MomentumPro on their operation, Whiting admits that it will be “within the next 12 months” as it may “take time to implement the solution.”
“We are providing them with greater access to information, as well as enabling the mobile workforce to have access to that information, so they will be able to make decisions on the spot quick and easier,” he said.
The expectation by Go Electrical is that the deployment of MomentumPro will result in better service provision to customers.
“As it gets deployed further throughout the organisation, they are going to see more benefits,” Whiting said.
“Certainly within those first twelve months of use they will reap the rewards they are expecting.”
