Technology trends pose challenges for security and identity management: Oracle

Claims there are opportunities for the channel in this growing market

Mega technology trends, such as the Cloud, social media, BYOD and mobility, pose new challenges for security and identity management, according to Oracle security and identity management vice-president of development, Amit Jasuja.

Jasuja stressed on the importance of securing the new digital experience and mentioned that it poses opportunities that the channel can take advantage of.

“Half the companies worldwide are going to have mobile applications delivered in the next few years. The Cloud and social networking is going to aid it. Keeping that in mind, many of our customers are asking if they are putting their business at risk if they adopt these technologies,” he said.

According to Jasuja, the opportunity for the channel lies within the mid to large-sized company space in verticals such as banking, utilities, Government and telecommunications.

“Many Australian companies are looking to put out applications for mobile devices and the channel should be working with these customers to provide them with strong security support. The same thing applies for the social networking and Cloud space,” he claimed.

He added that even though the new digital experience is mobile and social, the channel should look beyond the Australian market in growing its company.

“It’s about lowering your cost because you are not implementing new security infrastructure each time you go after a new channel and it gives you flexibility because you’ve got the same infrastructure that you use for both your internal and external customers,” Jasuja said.

He forsees the mobile platform becoming more prominent in future and said more security work needs to be done in that space. He added that Oracle will be launching solutions based on the development of these trends.

Oracle also recently released the latest version of its identity management product, Oracle Identity Management 11g Release 2, that reduces the need for log-in across multiple applications while managing its security.

The new solution is available from Oracle itself and its distributors, Nextgen Distribution and Avnet.

The company will be conducting a range of forums and partner related events in educating the channel about its solution.

Jasuja also mentioned that the company is seeking new channel partners focusing on mobile enablement and providing Cloud services.
