VMware signs on Westcon Group as VSPP distie

Westcon Group to offer its full range of virtualisation solutions

Virtualisation and Cloud infrastructure vendor, VMware, has inked a distribution deal with Westcon Group for its full suite of virtualisation services.

Westcon becomes the latest member of VMware’s Service Provider Partner Program (VSPP).

The partnership is a key enabler for Westcon and VMware’s service offerings for the service provider community across Australia as it now allows customers to access new services powered by VMware – such as virtual desktop, backup and recovery, and hybrid Cloud services.

As part of the agreement, Westcon’s enhanced account management structure will also work with VMware and its partner community to identify opportunities that add value and drive deeper integration of VMware products and services across customer infrastructures.

“The agreement is the result of demand from the service provider community who want to extend their Cloud services businesses. It layers neatly into our server, storage, security and networking portfolio and is a key enabler for our services offerings,” Westcon Group Asia-Pacific executive vice-president, Wendy O’Keeffe, said.

According to VMware, its strong relations with Westcon Group in New Zealand led it to extend the distribution relationship to Australia.

“We can now offer Australian service providers ‘pay-as-they-go’ licensing so they’re able to mitigate any capital expenditure. Westcon also brings comprehensive field support across the entire VMware product offering,” Westcon Group Australia managing director, David Henderson, said.

VMware A/NZ partner director, John Donovan, claimed now is a right time to add a distributor like Westcon Group as the market demand for Cloud computing is growing rapidly.

“It is profoundly transforming the way information and services are consumed and provided in Australia and globally, and we believe that we have only just scratched the surface for local Cloud provider opportunities,” he said.

Westcon’s market experience, as well as the breadth of partners will aim to address its every business opportunity, from SMB to the enterprise, Donovan said.
