Distributed Network Analysis with OptiView Protocol Expert and OptiView Link Analyzer

OptiView Protocol Expert 5.0 in depth troubleshooting across WANs and improved VoIP analysis; OptiView Link Analyzer now with 80-Gigabyte hard drive

Sydney, July 31, 2003 - Fluke Networks today released OptiView™ Protocol Expert version 5.0, providing network managers with a Windows®-based application for distributed protocol analysis and packet capture. OptiView Protocol Expert provides extensive seven-layer decodes to identify and solve tough network problems on switched segments, and integrates with the entire line of OptiView analyzers for comprehensive coverage of LAN and WAN segments.
Protocol Expert is now more tightly integrated to all OptiView analyzers including the new OptiView WAN analyzer. Protocol Expert software decodes capture files from OptiView WAN analyzer and enables packet and cell views of WAN traffic. Additionally, Protocol Expert provides packet capture capabilities on multiple virtual circuits simultaneously in real-time, greatly shortening the time it takes to monitor and troubleshoot WAN links.
“OptiView Protocol Expert 5.0 provides in depth troubleshooting for cell-based or packet-based wide area networks. In a growing VoIP market, the Expert’s QoS capabilities assist the network administrator in protecting integrity of critical voice and data applications.” comments Mr. Wayne Allen, Program Manager at Fluke Networks in Australia.

Version 5.0 also improves VoIP capabilities, including added support of a wide range of protocols such as ASN.1, MGCP, SGCP, H.323, Cisco SCCP, and SIP. Protocol Expert provides real-time views of key QoS parameters, offers user-definable quality grades for VoIP calls for “R” Factor, jitter, packet loss and setup time, and is easy to configure capture or display filters from call view to capture VoIP packets.

Protocol Expert supports the newest OptiView Link Analyzer, which now comes with an 80 Gigabyte hard drive.

New OptiView Link Analyzer with 80GB Hard Drive
Concurrent to the Protocol Expert release, Fluke Networks introduces the newest OptiView Link Analyzer with 80-Gigabyte hard drive option, giving users greater flexibility to store large amounts of data for trouble shooting intermittent problems. OptiView Protocol Expert 5.0 can remotely control OptiView Link Analyzer, which offers full-line rate traffic monitoring, alarm and packet capture even on highly utilized full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet links. Together, they provide the timing accuracy and performance required to solve tough problems such as slow application response or poor quality of service on highly utilized switch links.

Available now, the OptiView Protocol Expert version 5.0 upgrade is free of charge for existing customers with Gold Support. For additional information about OptiView suite of network analysis solutions, call Fluke Networks at (02) 8850 3333 or visit www.flukenetworks.com.
