With frantic schedules, there’s always the risk of missing your favourite programme on the TV. ABC has come up with an app for iview, a free catch-up service that lets you stream any show you like from your smartphones.
Overall, the app is very well designed, perhaps maybe the dull colour-scheme. The home page lists featured shows, and if those aren’t what you’re after, you can browse through ABC’s programs in another tab. All programs are divided by genre, so you aren’t left with a mile-long list of offerings.
As with most website-based TV catch-up services, programmes are only available online for a certain time frame. The ABC has added a "last chance" tab which acts as a warning to make sure you don't wait too long, and the programme falls off the listing.
The search tab is there for the added convenience if you’re looking for something specific.
If there’s a show you particularly enjoy, the watchlist tab lets you stay up-to-date with new episodes.
As a little bonus for app users, ABC has included an “iview Exclusives” category to the programs list, offering a range of extras from multiple genres.
Pros: Free, works great, well organized.
Cons: Will have you catching up at ridiculous times.
Verdict: ABC iview is a good way to ensure you maintain pace with your programs of choice, rather than being restricted to a set TV schedule.
