Marketing Results has taken on the task of making speech recognition software a retail commodity throughout Australia and Singapore, in a deal potentially worth $2 million to the company over the next 12 months.
US-based speech recognition software developer Lernout & Hauspie has signed on Marketing Results to revitalise the software in the Australian channel. The Quadtel subsidiary will republish and distribute the software throughout the region, offering promotional and marketing inititives to retailers.
"As both distributor and re-publisher we are in a position to invest strongly in the L&H Dragon range and give the products the focus they deserve in the retail channel," Rodney Orrock, sales and marketing manager of Quadtel - Marketing Results said in a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange.
"Also, by occupying both roles we give retailers the benefit of having just one single point of contact - rather than two or three - for all Dragon-related product and channel issues."
Within increased processing power and a new product designed specifically for the Australian market, Marketing Results hopes to increase sales of speech recognition software. L&H Dragon software includes Dragon Naturally Speaking, a software package designed specifically for the Australian vernacular, recognising both accent and terms.
The deal is also set to lower the price of the software, according to Marketing Results. For example, retail prices for Dragon Naturally Speaking Essentials 5.0 Old price has been reduced by $30 to $99.95 and Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred 5.0 edition will be reduced $50 to $299.95
