Pentax has released a USB-based scanner which it claims has all the functionality of a traditional desktop scanner. The Pentax DSMobile USB scanner features a USB power/data interface which frees the device from needing a power supply or battery. The product is extremely lightweight (12 ounces) and measures 11 inches. The sheet-feed scanner can scan documents as small as business cards through to A4 documents. The DSMobile is distributed through Austeknis and retails at $199 plus GST.
