In Australia, it’s difficult to keep up with the NBA season if you aren’t a pay TV subscriber. The only real sports channel, ONE HD, shows the odd game throughout the week (with perhaps a few more throughout the play-offs).
NBA.tv, as the official NBA app, is a necessary pocket news service for fanatics.
The app offers all the week’s news, including articles, photos, and videos, alongside competition information, such as standings, team and player information, schedules, and statistics.
Although the app is free to download, there are large costs associated with the premium offerings. A ‘single game’ pass sets you back $10.49, and it just goes up from there.
Though it may not burn a hole through your pocket, the charges seem somewhat redundant as it is fairly easy to browse the Internet for sites that are streaming games.
The user interface is well designed and there is not much delay in browsing. Of course, a lot of your experience depends on your connection.
Since the last update, the app has had a few crash issues, although it has not been a constant issue for myself.
Pros: Free; offers all essential NBA news; features videos, photos, and articles.
Cons: Watching a game costs you extra.
Verdict: A good way for Australian NBA fans to keep up to date with the game.
