UEFA Euro 2012 kicks off on Saturday morning (0200 AEST), with co-host nation, Poland, taking on Greece.

The official Euro 2012 app is the most concise way to keep up with one of the top competitions in the world.

The app offers all the necessary services to ensure you know what’s going on at every moment of the competition. This includes news, match information, team and player information, photos, videos, and a guide to the host cities.

The home page contains the latest news relevant to Euro 2012, alongside the day’s matches. Up top is a list of your favourite teams, which you can choose by going to the ‘matches’ tab.

Unfortunately, you cannot watch games live through the app (there isn’t even a pay-per-view option), and match highlights must be purchased. This is unfortunate for Australians fans who will only have access to eight games through free-to-air television.

Overall, the app functions very well, with all menus and links operating smoothly

Pros: Free, fast load times, detailed and concise

Cons: Requires Internet connection to update information, and is exclusive to iOS according to the App Store.

Verdict: A great app to keep AO fans up-to-date when away from a television, or during their visit to the location.
