PC and components vendor, Acer, has named world champion and Olympic hurdler, Sally Pearson, as its Australian brand ambassador.
Pearson, 26, began her track career at the age of 14, and has since won an array of medals at the World Youth Championships, World Championships, Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games. She was also named female athlete of the year by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) in 2011.
Pearson will be competing at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and will be using the Acer S5 ultrabook and Iconia A510 on the road and in London.
“Athletics, like any sport, is associated with a positive image and values that are shared with Acer,” Acer marketing general manager, David Sunton, said. “By associating Pearson’s characteristics such as speed, power and performance, we hope to enhance consumers’ recognition of Acer’s products.”
The vendor will commence its campaign in June, using Pearson to promote its products across electronic retailers. This will be accompanied by an online strategy aimed at creating brand engagement.
As part of the signing, Acer aims to raise awareness of hurdles as an Australian sport.
