Despite the pall surrounding the PC market, a report from Nielsen/NetRatings has pegged Australia among the countries that has a strong consumer market.
According to the quarterly report Global Internet Trends, key Asia-Pacific markets, including Australia, not only have some of the highest levels of PC penetration, but increasingly are looking to buy more.
"In Australia, over one in four households with PCs - nearly 1.2 million homes - actually own more than one machine," said Brian Milnes, Nielsen/NetRatings managing director for the Pacific.
The report identified South Korea, Australia and Singapore as the countries with the highest PC infiltration in the region. Between 64 and 68 per cent of households own a computer, and Asia-Pacific countries account for six out of the top 10 countries in the world in terms of penetration rate.
