Dodo casts spell on pre-paid mobile market with Magic Sim

CEO calls its unlimited plan 'the ultimate mobile offering'

Dodo Australia has launched a new pre-paid mobile offering called the Magic Sim.

"We have always been known to have the most aggressive plans in the market and this is no different. We are confident the Dodo Magic Sim will shake up the pre-paid mobile industry,” CEO and co-founder of Dodo Australia, Larry Kestelman, said.

The difference between Dodo's product and plans already in the marketplace was that until now the pre-paid mobile phone sector has been distinctly split into three areas: large data plans; cheap domestic calls; or cheap international calls, he said.

The Dodo Magic Sim combines all of these into one single sim card with a choice of plan – a $39.90 unlimited standard calls and text plan with 100 minutes of international calls, or a $2 Pay As You Go plan.

"We believe it is the best value for money prepaid mobile service in Australia,” Kestelman said

The Dodo $2 Pay As You Go sim starts at 11c per minute for domestic calls with no flag fall, and 11c standard text.

The Pay As You Go option includes low international call rates, with key countries such as China and Canada costing a $0.03/minute, India $0.02/minute, and UK or New Zealand landlines as low as as $0.04/minute (a 20c flag fall applies to all international calls).

Expiry dates on recharges for the plan range from 60 days to 365 days.

The unlimited plan is costs $39.90. Users get unlimited standard calls and text, 100 international minutes to 50 destinations, and 5GB of data – all over 30 days. Dodo is also including unlimited calls to 13/1300/1800 numbers, unlimited MMS and unlimited voicemail.

Kestelman calls it the "ultimate mobile offering”.
