Toshiba has added a new Pentium 4 model to the performance end of the notebook market with the introduction of its Satellite 1900. The new model is designed to provide the small business end of the market with a performance option or desktop replacement, by combining new technology with affordability, according to the vendor. Two models are available, featuring a Pentium 4 1.6GHz or 1.7GHz processor, a combination DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive or a CD-RW, and 15 or 14.1-inch screens. A 30GB hard drive and 256MB memory come as standard. Toshiba has designed a dual-cooling system to cope with the heat produced by the processors, using both air and water to keep the temperature below a 60-degree thermal limit. The notebook is priced at $3,999 and is available through retailers.
