Business intelligence specialist Zap Technology has been appointed the exclusive reseller of Informatica business analytics products for the Queensland region.
The deal was struck with MPI (Management Information Principles), master distributors of Informatica for Australia and New Zealand, who felt the need to appoint a sub-distributor to make its mark on the sunshine state.
MIP bases its business on distributing and aiding in the integration of Informatica products, and covers most of Australia from its offices in Sydney and Melbourne. However, according to marketing manager Audrey Mrazek, the distributor felt it needed a trusted reseller in Queensland to increase its market share in the state, resulting in the partnership with Zaptech.
Zaptech will now approach customers with the Informatica product, and will call in MIP on any resulting deal for a percentage of the sale.
Matthew Lingard, Zaptech managing director, said Informatica is an important piece of the data management puzzle that his company attempts to put together using its own proprietary products and those developed by vendors such as Cognos and Microsoft.
The Informatica software sits between the various databases deployed in large organisations, and the data warehouse(s) that uses the information from these databases to generate business reports. The Informatica product sets business rules to ensure that the diverse sets of data from the various databases are all extracted and transformed into a common format before entering the repository.
