NBN Co has promoted Robin Payne to the role of chief financial officer (CFO).
After joining as the National Broadband Network (NBN) company as the general manager of planning and development in 2009, Payne was later appointed as the lead negotiator for the $11 billion deal between NBN Co and Telstra.
He also played a big part in developing NBN Co’s initial corporate plan.
Payne previously worked for KPMG and then Macquarie Group, both for nine years. In 2004, he co-founded Anytime PTE, a company which aggregated move and TV content for online distribution across Australia.
“I’ve inherited a strong financial function and look forward to continuing to work with [NBN Co CEO, Mike Quigley] and the team to deliver value for taxpayers on an infrastructure project that will touch the lives of every home and business in the country,” Payne said in a statement.
Last week, the Government and NBN Co announced a three-year plan which will see the NBN touch 3.5 million premises by 2015.
