Techplus acquired by NZ distributor

Value-added distributor was snapped up by Connector Systems as a way to enter the Australian market.

Melbourne-based value-added distributor, Techplus, has been acquired by New Zealand company, Connector Systems.

Connector Systems is also a value-added distributor. The company approached Techplus, which distributes virtualisation and WAN optimisation products, for acquisition several months ago as a way to enter the Australian market.

Techplus managing director, Paul Kern, told ARN the distributor had no plans to be bought prior to being approached but said the two businesses are a good fit.

He will stay on as managing director for a period of time.

“Hopefully, for a very long period of time running the Techplus business in Australia,” Kern said.

In terms of changes, Techplus will now have more resources at its disposal. Currently operating with a staff of seven, the distributor will now have access to Connector Systems’ marketing, presale, and product management resources.

“It also brings some products into our portfolio immediately that Connector Systems had Australian rights for,” Kern said.

Resellers will not see any commercial changes, he said, but will notice there will be more Techplus staff they can deal with from now on.

Kern was unable to disclose the value of the acquisition.
