Knowledge management specialist reseller Knowledge Partners today opened a Melbourne office to seek out new opportunities in the city's legal, financial and manufacturing industries.
Specialists in imaging workflow and document management tools, Knowledge Partners began offering its services in Sydney in 1999, before opening a Hong Kong office in February of this year and now a Melbourne office this week.
Knowledge Partners director Paul Drinkwater, said the Melbourne office was necessary to better serve national accounts as well as sniffing out new opportunities for business.
The value-added reseller designs and integrates knowledge management systems using the software of Canada's Hummingbird software, Kofax, Sweden's Read Soft and Ireland's Soft Co. It also distributes add-ons to Hummingbird's document management suite developed by ActiveDocs and Workshare. The majority of these relationships were formed during the many years the three directors at Knowledge Partners, have worked in the systems integration industry.
Technical director Chris Parsley has been implementing KM systems for a number of years, while fellow director Rod Gregor was previously with Hummingbird VAR Fulcrum (now owned by the vendor) and Drinkwater, with CVSI (now owned by Solution 6).
Drinkwater said knowledge management is becoming a rewarding niche to play in, as organisations are starting to realise the benefits of collaborative computing and know that to get the most value out of such complex tools, they need to use channel partners that have an intrinsic understanding of the products.
In the KM implementation space, Drinkwater said Solution 6 is now the only real competition for Knowledge Partners, after his old employer recently acquired fellow competitor MDY.
