ITem3 tips the software start-up jar

So keen is the Australian Information Industry Association to attract more exhibitors at its annual software showcase, one of its sponsors is pledging $25,000 in services to the best IT startup at the event.

ITem3, an IT incubator funded by the Federal Government's Building on IT Strengths (BITS) scheme, is offering a package of business analysis and planning services worth $25,000.

The winner will be selected from five finalists and will be judged by ITem3's advisory board. The incubator has also suggested it might offer the winner the opportunity to utilise ITem3 resources to help implement the business plan developed.

"The end objective is to grow the business to a stage where it can support its own ongoing developments, or become an attractive target for corporate acquisition or follow-on funding by a later-stage venture capital firm," said Rob Forage, managing director of ITem3.
