The transfer speed of digital audio products just stepped up a gear, with Creative announcing its new Jukebox with IEEE-1394-compatible connectivity. The Nomad Jukebox 3 can connect to the PC via a USB 1.1 connection or the speedy IEEE-1394 - a standard that allows file transfers to hit less than one second per song, according to Creative, as well as allow real-time recording of MP3 and WAV files. The portable device has a 20GB storage capacity to hold up to 8,000 songs, but can also be used with 4.1 or 5.1 speaker systems in the home or office. The Jukebox 3 can also store data files such as photos, text or videos. Other features include scrolling navigation buttons, optical and analog line-in, volume normaliser, EAX Audio technology and upgradable firmware. Optional accessories such as infrared remote, PC docking station and car adapter kit are also available. The Nomad Jukebox 3 will be available from the end of May and will carry a recommended retail price of $999.
