What has a celebrity chef and campaigner got to do with the London 2012 Olympic Games?
Worldwide Olympic partner for wireless communications equipment, Samsung Electronics, has made an exclusive agreement with Jamie Oliver to be a Samsung ambassador for the London 2012 Olympic games.
According to Samsung, Oliver will play a key role in assisting the team to raise awareness of Samsung’s sponsorship of the games as a worldwide Olympic partner, particularly widening the reach of Samsung’s digital activation programs that support the Olympic Torch Relay and Samsung’s own global blogger programme.
Oliver will appear in multiplatform advertisements and public relations campaigns, encouraging participation in Samsung’s London 2012 marketing campaign.
Samsung Electronics vice-president and head of global sports marketing, Sunny Hwang, said Oliver’s perspective on important global issues, such as leading a healthy, balanced life and his passion for making these issues relevant to people was the reason behind the partnership.
“Samsung have developed some initiatives to help get young people from around the world involved in the London 2012 Olympic games and we both want as many people as possible to be a part of this incredible event," Oliver said.
Oliver joins other Samsung ambassadors, including David Beckham who joined Samsung’s London 2012 campaign in May 2011.
Samsung Electronics Australia also recently announced it was sponsoring one of Australia’s Olympic hopefuls, James Magnussen.
