APC by Schneider Electric appoints Andrew Sylvester and Grant Barnes

Company aims to offer focused consultation to customers to enhance business operations

Integrated critical power and cooling services provider, APC by Schneider Electric, has appointed Andrew Sylvester as sales manager for datacentre software, and Grant Barnes as professional services and engineering solutions manager for the Pacific region.

Sylvester, who will be responsible for building and growing the company’s datacentre software business in A/NZ and Pacific markets, has 20 years of IT experience in software, hardware and services.

“In my new role, I look forward to working with a talented sales force and continuing to hone APC by Schneider Electric’s expertise in power, cooling and datacentre management software to provide customers with the most comprehensive advice,” Sylvester said.

“As the IT services industry gains in complexity, I also see a clear opportunity to develop the channel,” he said. “By educating our partners to have a more holistic understanding of customer needs enables them to provide better services.”

Prior to joining the company, Sylvester held senior technology sales positions at CA Technologies, Dell, Novell and Toshiba.

In his new role, Barnes will manage the company’s engineering design, professional services, and help foster leadership amongst pre-sales engineering groups in the Pacific region.

Barnes said, “I hope to ensure that our customers and partners are fully supported, and have all the tools and information necessary to implement the most energy efficient solutions available.”

Barnes, with more than 30 years experience in the ICT, telco, and green energy sectors, was previously the service and operation director for Nortel enterprise business, APAC.

APC by Schneider Electric vice-president, Pacific, Paul Tyrer, said that Sylvester and Barnes would provide customers with a level of services that extends beyond the technical aspects of the company’s software.

“An important focus of their roles will be to offer advice and consultation to customers to help organisations get more from their software and enhance overall business operations.”
