Printer vendor, Fuji Xerox, is attempting to capitalise on a growing need for professional printers in the office with a trio of new offerings.
With recent IDC research predicting that the colour printing market is expected to grow by 40 per cent in the near future, Fuji Xerox is introducing three new printers that are tailored for three individual market segments.
The Phaser 7800 is position as the top of the line model, and Fuji Xerox Printers Asia-Pacific product sourcing and planning manager, Michael Johnson, referring to it as the company’s “most advanced colour printer yet.”
An A3 device with Pantone colour calibrations and extensive media handling capabilities (75 to 350gsm), the Phaser 7800 is squarely aimed creative professionals and large business that want to do commercial-quality print jobs in-house, such as proofs, to reduce associated time and costs.
While professionals will appreciate the Pantone support, casual users can make use of the printer’s Colour by Words technology that allows for fine tuning of colour output by selecting options such as “red apple,” “blue sky,” etc.
“The Phaser 7800 sets a new gold standard for colour printing and no other office colour printer on the market can match it,” Johnson said.
The new addition to the mid-range printer market is the Phaser 6700, which Johnson said is the “highest resolution A4 printer in its class".
The printer is targeted at SMBs and large work groups that have high monthly colour print volumes, with a maximum DPI colour resolution of 1200 x 2400.
In addition to featuring a 4.3-inch colour touch screen interface and front accessible toner cartridge for improved usability, the first Fuji Xerox single function printer to do so according to Johnson, it also has the Colour by Words technology built-in.
Demonstrating that it is not overlooking the A4 monochrome space, which Johnson points out comprises 75 per cent of the multifunction printer market, Fuji Xerox is introducing its WorkCentre 3550 printer.
As Fuji Xerox sells its printers exclusively through the channel, partners both new and current are expected to benefit from selling of these three new printers to their clients.
Some benefits available to Fuji Xerox partners include higher ongoing annuity and significant profit margins.
According to Johnson, the printers will be commercial available as early as March through authorised channel partners and resellers.
Excluding the GST, the Phaser 7800 is pegged to retail for $6999, the Phaser 6700 for $3499 and the WorkCentre 3350 for $1099.
