Cannavino takes top slot at CyberSafe

Veteran IBMer Jim Cannavino has taken the job of chairman and CEO of CyberSafe, the company announced today.

Cannavino spent 32 years at IBM before retiring from his post as senior vice president for strategy and development. He went on to join Perot Systems as president and chief operating officer in 1995, and left Perot Systems last July.

Last year, Cannavino was rumoured to be on the short list of candidates for the CEO job at Apple Computer. (The Apple board's external executive search has not been successful, and according to reports in today's Wall Street Journal, it is sweetening its offer to entice interim CEO Steve Jobs to take the post permanently.)At CyberSafe, Cannavino will be responsible for strategy, day-to-day operations and overall organisation of the company.
