Westcon gets Extreme help

Extreme Networks has enlisted the help of Westcon to widen the distribution of its next-generation Ethernet switching products in the Australian market place.

The vendor claims to have redirected its attention to building and diversifying its channel, having spent the last few years grooming its global relationships in the local market with companies such as Ericsson.

"Westcon will be a force in growing our Australian business," said Kenny Soutar, managing director of Extreme Networks Australia and New Zealand.

"[Westcon] will allow Extreme to reach companies that would benefit from our solutions but are too small to have a relationship with the larger Extreme resellers," he said.

Wendy O'Keeffe, vice president of sales for Westcon Australia, said the attraction of Extreme's range is its simplified approach to networks based on its corporate vision of "Ethernet Everywhere" networking.
