Ingram Micro CEO Gregory Spierkel resigns in US

Replaced by president and COO, Alain Monie

Ingram Micro Inc CEO, Gregory Spierkel, has resigned and will be replaced by president and COO, Alain Monie, who will take over as CEO of the Santa Ana-based company as of Friday, January 20.

Monie rejoined Ingram in November after spending a year as chief executive of the China-based Asia Pacific Resources International Ltd.

Spierkel has been with Ingram Micro since 1997 and served as president of the Asia-Pacific and the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.

He was appointed president in March 2004 and became CEO in 2005.

Spierkel will officially leave IM on April 15.

He said in a statement that he wanted to spend more time with his family.

Monie originally joined Ingram Micro in 2003 as executive vice-president and was promoted to president of the Asia-Pacific region in 2004 before serving as president and chief operating officer from 2007 to 2010.

He will retain the president's title, as well.
