The slow PC market doesn't seem to have dented monitor sales in the channel, as market analyst Inform reports May sales were up around 10 per cent on the previous month's figures.
LG Electronics took the number one position from Samsung in May, according to the analyst.
In the face of decreasing sales in PCs, the trend in the monitor market since November has seen growth since November last year. The small drop in sales during April has also failed to have an overall impact.
"Looking at third party monitor sales over time, we see the trend is almost opposite to that of the PC sales," said senior research analyst Hakan Alac.
LG sales now make up almost 18 per cent of the market, followed by Samsung with 16 per cent. ViewSonic also increased its market share to 13 per cent - up 24 per cent for the month.
The corporate dealer channel accounts for most monitor sales, 42 per cent.
