Software provider, Markinson, has been acquired by Canadian software and services group, Constellation Software, for an undisclosed sum.
Markinson will join the Constellation’s Friedman Operating Group as part of the deal, where it will operate as an independent division.
Markinson, which provides specialist business software provider to small and mid sized businesses, is expected to make use of Constellation’s corporate platform to grow and expand its business into new markets.
Markinson CEO, Ian Whiting, sees the deal with Constellation as being the next logical step for the business following two years of acquisitions and organic growth, which has helped strengthen the company’s position in the local business software solutions market.
“Our acquisition by Friedman now provides us with a stronger corporate platform to support our next phase of growth, while at the same time continuing to provide first-class service to our customers,” Whiting said.
The Friedman Operating Group is based in the U.S. and specializes in ERP solutions for manufacturers and distributors that deal with “make to order” and “engineer to order” products in the building products, capital equipment, and automotive sectors.
According to Friedman Operating Group CEO, Eric Herrmann, Markinson’s established position in common specialised markets and complementary product portfolio made it an attractive acquisition for the company.
“The Markinson product offering will enable us to grow our presence in the distribution, wholesale and retail management market sectors across specialised industries and further penetrate the Australian and Asia-Pacific regions,” he said.
