Users will now be able to track this summer's cricket action from the comfort of their smartphone or tablet with the release of the Cricket LIVE Australia 2011/12 app from Vodafone.
Designed to appeal to cricket fans this summer, the Cricket LIVE app comes with live match video streaming to enable users to keep track of the action while on the move.
The app has been built to support Apple’s iPhone and iPad, as well as Google’s Android OS for smartphone and tablets.
Taking a cue from TV shows such as Big Brother and Australian Idol, the app’s Vodafone Viewers' Verdict function is expected to be a major drawcard for cricket fans, as it allows users to cast their vote on umpire calls during the course of the match.
Once users have voted on an umpire’s call, the results will then be collated and broadcasted live on the Channel Nine network.
“We’ve had a huge number of cricket fans voting via the Vodafone Viewers’ Verdict, and the Cricket LIVE Australia app has been one of the most popular apps to download this summer,” Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) PR executive, Kyra Washington, said.
Another feature of the app is Cricket LIVE TV and the ability to view any Test, ODI, T20, and Big Bash match live through an Event Pass for a single match, or access to every match with a full Season Pass.
For iPhone, an Event Pass costs $2.99 to access an entire game and $9.49 for a Season Pass to access to all the games for the season.
Users with an iPhone or iPad on any Australian network are able to watch the matches, while Android smartphone owners are limited to the Vodafone and 3 networks.
For those who don’t have access to a smartphone, live scores, news and videos can be accessed via Vodafone Central by texting "Cricket" to 126677.
