Symantec employees, partners, customers, family and friends recently gathered in the heart of Melbourne to participate in the annual Around the Bay bike ride for charity.
The 22 members of the Symantec bike team rode more than 210 kilometres as part of an initiative by The Smith Family to raise funds towards the ‘Learning for Life’ program, which helps disadvantaged Australian children receive the most out of their schooling.
The Symantec team managed to raise approximately $24,000 for The Smith Family, making the company one of the top ten highest fundraising teams in Australia.
“Around the Bay is an extremely worthwhile cause that Symantec is very proud to support and participate in,” Symantec Pacific region vice president and managing director, Craig Scroggie, said.
“While the ride was hard work physically, these funds are helping Australians cultivate positive engagements with education which is something we highly value.”
Thanks to the success of the bike ride event, The Smith Family managed to reach its $1.2 million target for the ‘Learning for Life’ program.
Last year’s Around the Bay event enabled The Smith Family to assist more than 126,000 disadvantaged children and families across Australia.
