Veeam updates nworks Management Pack and nworks Smart Plug-in
The nworks MP is provides VMware infrastructure monitoring and management within Microsoft System Centre to enable an overview of applications, physical systems, Microsoft Hyper-V, and VMware vSphere virtual environments.
The updated 5.7 version includes:
- Support for VMware vSphere 5.0 to monitor 160 metrics and 500 events
- New reporting through Microsoft System Centre Operations Manager to provide more than 25 new and rewritten out-of-the-box reports
- Enhanced support for the largest VMware environments where vSphere clusters of any size can be monitored
The nworks SPI is built to offer VMware infrastructure monitoring and management in HP Operations Manager for reporting for VMware in HOP OpenView Performance Insight.
Like the MP, the SPI version 5.7 includes support for VMware vSphere 5.0 and enhanced support for large VMware environments, as well as updated HP platform support – including HP Operations Manager 9.0 for Windows, HP Performance Agent 1.1 and support for Veeam Business View.
Beta versions of both products are available from the Veeam website.
WatchGuard launches XTMv series of virtual firewalls
The XTMv series, which offers the same security as the XTM range, will be available in four editions to cater for small, midsize, and large-scale distributed environments.
The virtual protection solution, which manages traffic passing within virtual infrastructures, is built for managed security services providers (MSSPs), hosting providers and IT organisations because multiple instances of XTMv can run on a single vSphere hypervisor.
The XTMv is available as a limited beta by request through WatchGuard directly.
Lexmark launches add-on scanner for the T650 printer series
Lexmark International has launched the 6500e MFP Option, a modular scanner that can be added to Lexmark’s T650 series of laser printers.
Lexmark is a provider of printing and imaging products and software solutions.
The multifunction solution contains a 10.2-inch touch screen for managing scan jobs and offers tactile feedback. Its scanning capabilities cater for a range of media – including rigid credit cards, carbonless paper and 11-inch x 17-inch jobs. The 6500e also offers full support for the T650’s array of finishing options and comes in a compact design for space constrained areas.
Adobe releases audience measurement tool
Software and technologies solutions provider, HP has released a data extrapolation solution for audience measurement.
The Adobe AudienceResearch is a tool that providers certified metrics on the size and engagement of digital audiences for websites, mobile applications and digital magazine editions.
AudienceResearch operates through Adobe SiteCatalyst, an online analytics application, which captures key metrics for monitoring. Such census-based measurement is designed to record relevant traffic to avoid estimation.
Adobe has also launched its Audience Certification Program in conjunction with the AudienceResearch solution. The program gives publishers the opportunity to become Adobe Certified Publishers which certifies their digital audience data when they meet a set criteria which monitors accuracy.

AppSense announces free application management solution
Virtualisation technology provider, AppSense, has announced its Strata suite of product technology.
The solution provides users with the ability to install and manage applications in an isolated environment without the need for administrative rights. Following installation, applications are returned back to their desktop.
Entelechy Associates founder and principal analyst, Simon Bramfitt, said that the solution lowers the cost of desktop management without compromising security.
Strata, which acts as an addition to application virtualisation products rather than a replacement, extends the AppSense User Virtualisation Platform by enabling the installation of personal productivity applications.
The AppSense Strata is currently in private beta, with the public beta expected in early 2012.
Trend Micro adjusts integration solution
Trend Micro has made adjustments to its OfficeScan, Mobile Security and Data Protection solutions. The focus of the enhancements is integration of security, data protection and mobile management.
The Trend Micro OfficeScan 10.6 is built for data loss protection with its plug-in which deploys endpoint DLP in minutes. It aims to avoid fines and data breaches by handling data appropriately.
The Data Protection module also provides Digital Asset Control to prevent digital leakage, and its Device Control feature regulates access to multiple storage devices and drives.
Consumerisation of IT is enabled by the Mobile Security 7.1 which adds support for Apple iPad and iPhone, as well as Android and Blackberry devices. It contains extra mobile device management capabilities, which are integrated within OfficeScan.
Endpoint Encryption 3.1 offers encryption for laptops, USB drives, and removable media. The pre-boot authentication feature adds to the security of encrypted devices.
