WatchGuard protects Apple users
Business security solutions provider, WatchGuard Technologies, will soon be releasing its new WatchGuard iOS mobile support, which has security capabilities to protect Apple iOS-enabled devices – including the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch data.
It provides seamless and secure data encryption tunnelling for the Apple devices to WatchGuard next-generation firewalls.
Through the solution, the company aims to provide mobile users with unparalleled protection for their mobile devices, while giving network administrators an avenue to manage, monitor and secure mobile devices, information and applications.
According to WatchGuard Technologies Asia-Pacific vice-president for channels and alliances, Scott Robertson, managing and securing consumer technologies is a challenge for businesses as more employees are bringing personal devices into their corporate IT ecosystem.
“By offering a way to securely connect iOS devices with WatchGuard security appliances, administrators can say ‘yes’ to their employees, while knowing their corporate networks, applications and data are safe and secure,” he said.
It enables users to create a mobile virtual private network (VPN) connection via IPSEC with their iOS devices, for fast and easy VPN connections from anywhere to their WatchGuard XTM firewall appliance.
It also consolidates security functions from WatchGuard’s line of extensible threat management (XTM) security solutions – such as stateful packet firewall, VPN, anti-spam, anti-spyware, anti-virus, content filtering and intrusion prevention.
The new WatchGuard iOS mobile support will be available for free to WatchGuard customers with current LiveSecurity subscriptions. It will be available worldwide Q4, 2011.
