The Sony Tablet S will be available to purchase online at Sony's Web site , at Sony Centre stores and "selected Australian retailers" from tomorrow. It will cost $579 for the 16GB model and $689 for the 32GB version. Both models of the Tablet S are Wi-Fi only tablets — 3G models of the Sony Tablet S will not be sold in Australia until early 2012.

The Sony Tablet S has a curved design that attempts to resemble a folded magazine and its shaped like a wedge. The upper portion of the tablet is thicker than the lower portion, which is an attempt to make it easier to hold and easier to view when sitting on a desk. Sony says the physical attributes of the Tablet S make it stable and light and therefore comfortable to use for an extended period of time. It weighs 598g.

The Sony Tablet S has front and rear-facing cameras, Wi-Fi, DLNA, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity, and is PlayStation certified, meaning it will be compatible with PlayStation games available through the Android Market. Sony will pre-load Australian models of the Tablet S with Crash Bandicoot and Pinball Heroes games.

The Sony Tablet S is powered by a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and 1GB of RAM and also comes with an SD card slot and a USB port.
