After weeks of speculation, it's official. Tech Pacific will exit from Intel's processor business.
Tech Pacific will stop distributing Intel's CPUs and motherboards later this year, the distributor has confirmed. However, the distributor will continue its long standing relationship with Intel in networking wireless solutions and Xircom products.
The two companies have been in talks for the past two months over distribution arrangements.
"We will focus on Intel's networking products for the SME market," said Tech Pacific marketing communications manager, Fiona Stewart. "But we want to emphasise that we are not withdrawing from the OEM space."
Intel announced it would buy PC modem and network card vendor Xircom in January - a move aimed at bolstering its mobile communications offerings.
Tech Pacific too has been focused on expanding its networking business into the SME and OEM market.
