Facebook for iPad
Cost: Free | Developer: Facebook | Platform: iPad | 9.5 MB | 3.0+
I hate the iPhone Facebook app with a passion. It’s clunky, poorly laid out and has a nasty habit of crashing on me right before I make a stunning, witty status update (or perhaps the app just has smarts to protect me from myself).
The Facebook iPad app on the other hand, is elegant and fun to use. Accessing feeds is easy, browsing the embarrassing photos of your friends is easy. Making witty status updates is easy. I’ve not come across any issues with crashing as yet.
There’s even this rather neat feature where, if you’re a fan of an app like, say, Bejewelled, tapping on it will take you to the Bejewelled page in the Apple App store. You might not be able to play Flash games on your iPad, but you can be directed to the (usually superior) app version in a heartbeat now.
So all up? This is the definitive version of Facebook. About time the world’s premier social network properly joined the mobile party.
Pros: This is a Facebook app worth using.
Cons: Not everyone likes Facebook. But then those people weren’t going to download this in the first place.
Verdict: Essential for Facebookers on the go.
