Still stuck using slang like “Groovy” and “Gnarly”? Maybe it’s time to update your slang vocabulary.
For those familiarly with the website www.urbandictionary.com, there are now a ridiculous amount of slang words and phrases floating around, namely thanks to the rapid pace information is spread around the Internet.
If you don’t want to get left behind in modern conversation (especially with those pesky GenYers) then you might want to invest in Slango.
The app carries a tag line “pop culture in your pocket”, which is quite fitting considering it has over five million definitions of up-to-date slang words and phrases.
It requires an Internet connection but users can bookmark words for offline viewing.
The way Slango presents its information is tongue-in-cheek though some may consider it crude; definitely not for the easily offended. For those that have a sense of humour, the app might give you your daily giggle.
A Word of the Day feature lets you catch up on the past week’s slang and Random Word search will provide an endless stream of entertainment.
Users can even share interesting words they find with friends via email, Facebook, Twitter or SMS.
Pros: Cheap, fun, great presentation
Cons: Useless if you don’t care about being up to date with slang phrases
Verdict: Get Slango to decipher your teenager’s cryptic speech or for a bit of fun for yourself.
